Deleted Scene 10
D'ANGELO's DELUX

This was actually the very first scene we shot on the first day of shooting, and mid shoot the location started to flood!
This is an early cut of the scene where D'Angelo comes to ask his old boss for his job back early on in the film. As with the other deleted scenes, the sound hasn't been mixed so there is no additional background soundscape to give the space character. (In the final version of the film there is a later scene where D'Angelo comes back here to see his Boss again)
We've left the scene in its natural colour state as it was shot. By shooting a raw and un-manipulated color palette, Cinematographer Gavin Northover maximised the tonal information we were capturing, giving us a lot more latitude to play with in the grading of the film into black and white. One of the reasons we think the film looks so good, and one of the reasons the film won the Accession Award for Cinematography at the East End Film Festival 2014.
Check out the directors commentary for more on why we chose to shoot a black and white film in colour.

Alternative Music Take, Jody and D da...
We tried a bunch of different tracks over this scene before going with the track used in the final film. On its own I actually prefer this one, but in the context of the film it seemed a bit narratively serious so we went with the other Jackson Scott track instead.
